IT Site Engineer
Main Location: Humber Quays, Hull
Secondary Locations: Various Spencer Group sites across the UK
Reporting to: Head of IT Services
We’re looking for a hands-on, practical person with a background in cabling or physical installations — someone who’s used to working with tools, has an eye for neatness, and enjoys getting things done on-site. You’ll be part of a supportive IT team that handles everything from setting up site offices to deploying CCTV and flying drones.
You don’t need to be an IT expert, just a background in cabling, AV or similar installation work and a willingness to learn new skills, as full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Travel to construction and civil engineering sites across the UK
- Install full site IT setups (network gear, Wi-Fi, access control, printers)
- Run and terminate Cat5e/Cat6 network cabling neatly and safely
- Install CCTV systems using MEWPs (you’ll need or be trained to get a MEWP licence)
- Support access control setups (face scanners, Paxton systems)
- Fly drones and manage time-lapse rigs (training provided)
- Recover equipment when sites close down
- Maintain stock and tools in your van and on site
- Work closely with the wider IT team back at HQ
Requirements and Qualifications
Person Specification
- A background in cabling, telecoms, AV, or similar physical installation work
- Confidence using a computer and learning new software
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness to work at height (via MEWP) and in varied site environments
- Willing to work away when required (overnights on occasion)
- Organised, tidy and practical – you leave a job looking neat and professional
- Comfortable talking with site teams, contractors and IT colleagues
Qualifications & Certifications
- Full UK driving licence
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Relevant IT qualification (Beneficial but not needed)
- MEWP operator certification (Beneficial but not needed)
- Hikvision CCTV installer certification (Beneficial but not needed)
- PTS certification. (Beneficial but not needed)
- A2 CofC Drone Licence (Beneficial but not needed)
Nice to have (But Not Required)
- Experience with CCTV or access control installs

- Basic IT knowledge (IP addresses, cabling, Wi-Fi setup)
- Experience with drones, AV equipment or network testing tools
