As an Electrical and Controls Engineer with Spencer Group you will be working on a range of projects, primarily in machine applications. You will be expected to work predominantly in an office environment, however support site activities dependent on project requirements.

Responsibilities 

  • Electrical Design: Responsible for entire system controls and electrical design either directly or through others with integration of specialist sub-systems
  • PLC Programming, writing control system software from scratch or modifying programs, including integrated safety
  • Produce detailed control system design drawings, schematic drawings, associated cabling designs using CAD software e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, Electrical OM
  • Standards and Regulatory Compliance: Identify and apply current standards expected for the machinery industry including 13849 and 62061, compile technical documentation for and assess for CE compliance
  • Keeping abreast on technical developments in machine automation and applications
  • Tender support, providing robust tender documentation and costings
  • Site visits, site surveys and commissioning

Requirements and Qualifications

Person Specification 

  • Strong technical knowledge of complex electrical systems, PLC’s, Drives, Control Systems, SCADA in an industrial environment
  • Demonstrable experience within Siemens PLC / HMI / SCADA programming (TIA Portal) including integrated safety and networking
  • Working knowledge of functional safety, ideally supported by a formal competency
  • Experience of control system design using AutoCAD along with supporting documentation
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member within a multidisciplinary team liaising directly with team members and clients
  • Good all-round technical design experience using British and International standards
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own time and workload to deliver against agreed milestones
  • Good verbal and written communication and technical writing skills
  • Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Experience of working in a rail environment will be an advantage

Qualifications 

  • HND qualified Electrical and Electronic Engineering or demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding and discipline relevant professional experience
