Project Scope

Spencer Group worked on behalf of Associated British Ports to design and construct a replacement quay at the Port of Troon.

The works required the demolition and disposal of the existing timber quay and the design and construction of a new 90m tubular steel piled concrete deck. As part of the wider scope of works, we were responsible for dredging and deepening of the harbour, in addition to conducting extensive paving, alongside associated ducting & electrical works.

The works utilised Spencer Group’s in-house operatives, plant and equipment including the company’s piling barge - the ‘Meeuw’, to assist with all piling works.

Outcome

Through our close coordination and collaboration with Associated British Ports, we successfully created a deeper harbour to allow access for larger vessels. This has had a lasting positive impact on the port, increasing the available capacity and provision of a new quay.
