About the Company

We are a leading construction company delivering high-quality infrastructure and building projects across multiple sectors. As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint a proactive and organised Project Planner to join our Planning Team. This role focuses on the delivery stage of projects, working closely with site teams to ensure programmes are realistic, maintained, and reflective of actual progress on the ground.

Role Overview

The Project Planner will play a key role in supporting the delivery of one or more construction projects, from mobilisation through to handover. You will be responsible for managing live project programmes, engaging with site teams to capture real-time updates, attending site meetings, and producing accurate progress reports. The role demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

This is a great opportunity for a planner with site or delivery experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being close to the work face.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Maintain and update live project programmes in Primavera P6
  • Work with site managers, engineers, and subcontractors to collect accurate progress data
  • Attend regular site meetings and walkarounds to validate physical progress against programme
  • Preparation of Clause 31 and 32 schedules, including programme narratives and impact assessments with the potential for quotation programmes
  • Carry out critical path analysis and identify potential risks and opportunities to improve programme performance
  • Develop short-term look-ahead programmes and recovery strategies when needed
  • Manage and coordinate programmes across multiple projects (if required), ensuring consistency and quality of planning outputs
  • Ability to understand and interpret contract requirements

Programme Reporting & Coordination

  • Produce and maintain clear, timely reports and dashboards for both internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Support the commercial team by linking programme data to earned value, delay analysis, or extension of time submissions
  • Monitor float, constraints, and milestones to ensure early warning of slippage or risk
  • Liaise with subcontractors to integrate their input into master programmes
  • Apply EVM techniques to monitor project performance, identify schedule variances and cost overruns, and support decision making throughout the project.
  • Reviewing resource utilisation to maximise productivity and efficient project delivery.

Ad-Hoc

  • Work the planning team to provide support where appropriate and mentor assistant planners.

Requirements

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a planning role within a live project delivery environment
  • Proficient in Primavera P6
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and construction data
  • Experience working with site-based teams and communicating across multiple disciplines
  • Able to manage and prioritise workloads across multiple projects if required
  • Strong IT and reporting skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Highly organised, analytical, and detail-oriented
  • Full UK driving licence (if travel to multiple sites is expected)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Planner to drive the planning function across complex and high-value projects. This role demands a technically proficient individual with strong people leadership skills, a deep understanding of construction methodology, and the ability to apply first principles planning to develop accurate, logical, and commercially viable programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in aligning project delivery with both business and sector-specific requirements, while also mentoring and developing planning team members.
