Spencer Group continues to work on Rochester Riverside Car Park, part of the re-development of the area surrounding the new Rochester Station.
Spencer was awarded the £160,000 contract to design the new car park and was then invited to tender for the construction works by Medway Council. Spencer subsequently won the contract to create the new six-level station car park.
The work to build the multi-storey station car park is a spin-off of the East Kent re-signalling contract delivered for Network Rail and which saw Spencer construct the new Rochester Station.
Work on site is progressing to programme, with foundations complete and the construction of the precast frame at 75% completion.
Tom Kerins, Operations Director for Spencer, said: “Spencer Group has an excellent relationship with Medway Council, which began during the East Kent re-signalling contract and this is now evident in our award of the car park contract.”
Spencer is currently in discussions with Medway Council regarding additional works that need to be carried out prior to the safe opening of the car park, which require external footpaths and a subway link, and improvements to Cory’s Road. It is also anticipated that Medway Council will seek assistance from Spencer regarding landscaping at the site.
