Trainee Business Developer

Role Overview

Spencer Group are seeking a motivated and ambitious Trainee Business Developer to join our growing team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone looking to kickstart a career in business development within the construction and civil engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities, clients, and markets
  • Support the preparation of bids, tenders and proposal documents
  • Conduct market and competitor research to inform strategic decisions
  • Maintain and update our in-house system with relevant client and project information
  • Support client relationship management and internal stakeholder engagement
  • Help coordinate meetings, presentations, and follow-ups with potential clients
  • Ad hoc duties as required

Requirements and Qualifications

Person Specification

  • A genuine interest in business development and the construction/civil engineering sector
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of managing multiple, complex and time sensitive tasks/activities
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload
  • Strong numeracy and IT skills
  • Efficient, well organised and self-motivated
  • Excellent written skills with a eye for detail

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of Maths and English GCSE’s Grade B or above
  • A-Level, BTEC or relevant vocational qualification is desirable
  • A relevant degree, or equivalent, would be preferred but not essential
