Spencer Group was honoured to host the 2025 Hull edition of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride on Sunday 18th May, providing a temporary location for the global charity event that raises awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
The ride, which features hundreds of classic and vintage-styled motorcycles, was originally scheduled to finish on Humber Dock Street.
However, due to ongoing landscaping works in the area, Spencer Group stepped in to offer its Humber Quays Plaza as an alternative place to congregate, ensuring the event could still go ahead in Hull.
Nearly 250 riders took part in the ride, which also featured a charity village, with support from The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Fiveways Motorcycles.
Tony Ashbridge, who coordinated volunteers and managed logistics at the finish area, said:
“The event was a great success but almost never happened because of the landscaping works in our usual finishing area on Humber Dock Street. We are extremely grateful that Spencer Group stepped in and offered us the use of their site on the Humber Plaza.
“We had almost 250 riders this year and there was some excellent feedback from them about the new finishing area.
“Spencer Group could not have been more accommodating to us, even providing two members of staff who were an invaluable help throughout the day.
“When the final numbers are in, we hope to have raised over £20,000 for the DGR charities. Thank you Spencer Group for helping us to make this happen.”
A spokesperson for Spencer Group added:
“We were proud to support The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and provide a space that allowed this incredible event to go ahead in Hull.
“Raising awareness around men’s mental health and prostate cancer is vitally important, and it was a privilege to welcome such a passionate community of riders to our site.”
Founded in Sydney and inspired by the style of Mad Men’s Don Draper, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has united over 500,000 riders in 121 countries, raising more than $50 million USD since its inception in 2012.
