Last week, Spencer Group officially launched the ‘Spencer Group Women’s Forum’, an initiative the company first announced during Women in Construction Week.
Colleagues from across the business were recently invited to take part in gender equality surveys in the aim of better understanding the experiences of women working in the industry.
The company conducted two surveys, the first was distributed to all female employees, inviting them to anonymously share their experiences of working in a predominantly male-dominated industry.
The second survey was then shared with all male Spencer employees, which gave them the opportunity to share their views on gender equality within the workplace and wider industry.
The forum provided colleagues with a safe space to reflect on the findings and to share their own thoughts and experiences of working in the industry and ways in which they think the company can continue to champion inclusivity for women in the workplace.

In an industry where women make up just 16.5% of the workforce, Spencer Group is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. The launch of the Women’s Forum marks an important step forward and demonstrates the company’s commitment to making a real difference.
Led by Group HR Director, Yvonne Moir, the first session facilitated important conversations among Spencer Group’s female employees, giving them the opportunity to discuss ways to further support gender equality in the engineering sector.
Though progress is being made within the company and the wider industry, it is important to acknowledge that there is still more to do. By introducing the forum, the company is actively encouraging open and honest conversations across all teams, ensuring that women across the business are not only heard, but actively shape the future of the organisation.
Yvonne Moir, Group HR Director at Spencer Group said:
“At Spencer Group, we believe every individual should be recognised and valued for their contribution, expertise and talent, regardless of gender. While we are proud of our culture, we also recognise that our industry still has work to do to achieve true gender equality.”
“Our Women’s Forum is a step forward. It creates a safe, supportive space for women to share their voices, raise important conversations, and challenge the status quo. Together, we are committed to driving meaningful change, championing equality, inspiring progress, and shaping a more inclusive future for everyone.”
“It was truly inspiring to see so many women participate, and we look forward to continuing this journey together, driving positive, lasting change.”
