Spencer Bridge Engineering has raised over £800 for the Menai Heritage Museum after taking on the annual Great Strait Raft Run in Anglesey.
A group of six Spencer Bridge Engineering colleagues took to the choppy and chilly waters of the Menai Straight in North Wales to row the 6km route whist raising money for the charity.
The team, nicknamed the Menai Museum Pirates, completed the route from the beach at Y Felinheli to St Georges Pier Promenade, in 1 hour 19 minutes, finishing in a respectable 9th place.

The Menai Museum Pirates joined 17 other teams for the annual event which sees brave fundraisers take to the Menai Straight on hand-built rafts to raise money for a variety of worthy causes.
Spencer Bridge Engineering has spent more than four years working in the local area, working on a series of projects to restore and safeguard the historic Menai Suspension Bridge ahead of it’s 200th anniversary.
Work on the bridge has included replacing the vertical road deck hangers which suspend the deck from the main chains of the bridge and the team are now working on a project to repaint the main underdeck.
The team is passionate about being a responsible contractor in the communities in which it works and regularly supports local organisations.
This was the third time Spencer Bridge Engineering has taken part in the Great Strait Raft Run to help raise funds for the Menai Heritage Museum, a community project which honours the two world-famous bridges that span the Menai Strait – the Menai Suspension Bridge and Britannia Bridge.

Customer Relationship Manager Diane Rowe was in attendance on the day and cheered the team on from the water’s edge.
She said: “We’ve been working on various projects on the Menai Suspension Bridge for over four years now and we’re delighted to have developed close connections with the local community in that time.
“Taking part in the Great Strait Raft Run is a fantastic way for us to deepen those connections through a fun, feel good event, whilst helping to raise vital funds for a worthy cause.
“Rowing beneath two of the UK’s most famous bridges alongside so many passionate teams made for a memorable day full of teamwork, community spirit and plenty of laughs along the way.
“A huge well done to everyone involved, and especially to our crew for surviving the waves and the scorching Welsh weather!”
