The Hull-based multi-disciplinary engineering specialist was awarded this accolade at the Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering Awards 2026.
This was accompanied by being recognised as finalists in both the Excellence in Outreach and Excellence in Mental Health and Wellbeing categories.
These prestigious awards highlight the outstanding contributions, achievements, and leadership of women as well as companies who are driving gender diversity and inclusion in the engineering sector.
Spencer Group were recognised with this honour during a dazzling awards ceremony at the London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane.
This award displays Spencer Group’s passion for developing the next generation through their apprenticeship programme, community impact and commitment to creating an environment where young women can excel.

The company’s long-standing partnership with Ron Dearing UTC was the focus of the award submission.
As a Founding Partner, Spencer Group has worked closely with the school for 9 years to provide apprenticeships, work experience, career support and opportunities that help inspire the next generation of talent in the local area.
The commitment to creating an environment where young women can excel is evidenced by the 2026 apprentice intake, 44% of whom are female.
This is more than double the national industry average for young people beginning apprenticeships in engineering and technology.
Spencer Group’s involvement in the Talented Women Programme was also highlighted.
The Talented Women programme, developed by Helen Roberts and Kay Williams, is designed to support women with their professional development through building personal leadership skills, identifying unique strengths, and overcoming career barriers.

55% of all female employees have now gone through the programme, further displaying a commitment to helping women grow, progress and thrive in their careers.
Spencer Group HR Director Yvonne Moir said:
“We are delighted to have been recognised as the Next Generation Employer of the Year at the Inspiring Women in Construction Awards.
Our commitment to supporting the professional development of women is clear through our involvement with the Talented Women programme and our apprenticeship scheme, in which nearly half of our intake for this year are female.
This award is for everyone at Spencer Group who works hard to support the continual professional development of women within the company and beyond.”
