Technician

Location – Hull
Team – Design

As a Civil/Structural Technician you must be able to think outside of the box and come up with simple, effective solutions to complex problems.  You will be required to utilise the latest 3D software environments and work with the design and build team in a fast paced environment where quality counts.  You will be responsible for your own work but also mentor apprentices as and when required.

Responsibilities

You will –

  • Work accurately on projects ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity, in accordance with the design briefs given
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly produced in accordance with Spencer Group and client procedures and securely filed
  • Identify any design issues and changes as soon as they become apparent
  • Work within the company’s ISO9001 quality systems

Requirements and Qualifications

Person Specification

  • Experienced and competent civil & structural technician
  • Skilled in the use of one or more of the following Aecosim, Revit, Advance Steel
  • The ability to produce accurate surveys, including topographical surveys and ideally laser scanning
  • Experience in fabrication detailing of structural steelwork
  • Ability to produce Design Risk Assessments
  • Ability to work unsupervised when required
  • Problem solving
  • Working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Competent use of Microsoft IT systems – Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have relevant (HNC or equivalent) professional/vocational qualification
  • Experience within some or all of the following sectors: Rail, Energy, Industrial and General Construction
  • Previous experience of Design & Build would be beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience of working in a 3D environment is essential
