Contracts Manager
Description of Role
Reporting directly to the Board, as Contract Manager you will have responsibility for administering the contract and be the main point of contact for the client. Working closely with the Project Managers across our projects, as a critical part of the team, you will be responsible for contract compliance, execution of the tender strategy and delivering on the client and stakeholder requirements. The role will involve coordination between the site delivery teams and support functions, making sound decisions to ensure the contract milestones are met on time and on budget. This role is based between head office and sites around the UK.
Responsabilites
- Main point of contact for the client team and stakeholders
- Jointly accountable with the PM for profit & loss on the project, including regular reporting to the board
- Support the management of the operational aspects of the project and scope
- Working with the Commercial Manager to administer the NEC contract to ensure all milestone provisions are met
- Taking the lead and coordinating with the project manager, commercial team and other project support functions
- Attending all progress and commercial meetings
- Selecting and overseeing management of sub-contractors
- Work with the commercial team to identify change and quantify the time and cost impact of site activities
- Participate in optioneering exercises to identify alternative delivery strategies that benefit the project
- Ownership of project Task Responsibility Assignment Matrix (TRAM)
Requirements and Qualifications
Person Specification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to lead by example, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles
- Competent in the use of IT functions
- Ability to work under pressure, whilst ensuring deadlines are met
- Management and leadership skills, with a passion for quality
- Strong experience of contract management (NEC, JCT etc)
Qualifications
- Must have a relevant degree (Civil/structural/mechanical) or equivalent professional/vocational qualifications, CEng or working towards Chartered status
- Significant demonstrable experience (5 years minimum) in bridge works, highways or major civil engineering projects
- Experience with client and stakeholder management on high profile civil engineering projects
- NEC Project Manager accredited training or equivalent advantageous
