Port of Hull Steel Terminal
This facility provides a covered ship off-loading facility for finished steel products at the Port of Hull. Spencer provided civil, structural, mechanical, EC&I and rail design and build services to deliver:
- • 10,000m2 steel framed building over exisiting, flooded dry dock
- • Substantial reinforced concrete foundation structures to enable the dry dock to return to its former use if required
- • Installation of 4no 25t travelling gantry cranes
- • Extensive hard standing, weighbridge and offices
- • Marine fenders
- • Extension to existing rail infrastructure and new rail head
The new facility required 178 pre-cast concrete piles to take building loads away from critical infrastructure, including pumping sumps and underground galleries. Once complete the facility enabled unloading of a 2,000t vessel in 7 hours.
