We recognise that our people are our biggest asset. Development is very much at the heart of our culture and we’re firm in our belief that training and multi-skilling our people is vital to the future success of the Spencer Group.
If we are to realise our ambitious plans for growth, we need to invest in the talent and potential of our people. If we are to retain talented people, we have to show that we are committed to their development. You’ll never be seen as just a number at the Spencer Group – our people are what make us so good at what we do.
Our bespoke eLearning portal, called SOLO, will provide you with remote access to all the training you require to excel within your role. SOLO has enabled us to deliver over 800 eLearning courses to over 350 people in recent months and SOLO has proved to be an excellent tool for promoting development opportunities within the Spencer Group.
Our Career Advancement Programme (CAP) is another way in which you can fast-track your career at the Spencer Group. Established in 2014, the CAP has been designed to provide coaching and mentorship opportunities to high potential people who are keen to get on quickly. With access to a leadership assessment and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) Matrices – the CAP is perfect for people who want a whirlwind experience that will allow them to progress their career quickly.
Tony Wells, a Project Manager at the Spencer Group, who was offered a place on the CAP in July 2014 commented, “I’m really glad I applied for the CAP as I have had a great experience so far. The coaching and mentoring sessions are invaluable and provide focus to my development. The PDR (Performance and Development Review) system is fantastic; however, the CAP is an excellent way to progress in this business quickly. With such a bright future ahead of us – I am really excited about my future at Spencer.”
If we are to realise our ambitious plans for growth, we need to invest in the talent and potential of our people.
Our annual Performance and Development Review process ensures that everyone has regular and ongoing feedback and discussions with Personal Development Managers about their performance, development and future career at the Spencer Group.
Every role in the Spencer Group has a job description and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) Matrix, which when combined with the Performance and Development Review process ensures that our people are perfectly placed to truly realise their potential.
We are passionate about offering progression opportunities for all our people in a wide range of disciplines. If we are to retain talented people within the Spencer Group, we have to show that we are committed to their development by offering a broad range of opportunities and careers. It’s our commitment to realising our people’s potential across the company that helps to make a career with the Spencer Group stand out.
Following the undertaking of a Performance and Development Review, an extensive array of formal and informal learning opportunities are offered. We have delivered personal development training within the last three years to over 600 people, thus highlighting our commitment. These learning opportunities include ‘on the job’ learning, professional and technical qualifications and management, leadership and interpersonal skills training.
Equality of opportunity is paramount to the Spencer Group. We are pro-active in ensuring that our commitment to development is reflected across the Spencer Group in a way that allows individuals at all levels to advance at a speed and in a way most suited to their circumstances.
